Quest: Costa Rica

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius  - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction.

Family, Food, and Farm

Buenos dias, and welcome to Quest: Costa Rica, where no day is complete without the family, home-cooked food, and of course - the farm! This Quest will bring us to a beautifully simple place, where life is not cluttered by constant distraction, but rather directed by a focused and clear-headed state of mind, a healthy body, and a lifted spirit. Finca Pasiflora, an organic sustainable family farm located in central Costa Rica, will serve as our home for much of the trip. Life on the finca - and in Madison as we prepare for departure - will be spent reconsidering the essential elements of our lives and our happiness: the people closest to us, the food with which we nourish our bodies and souls, and the land so vital to our livelihood. These simple and often forgotten pieces of our lives will be brought back into focus throughout Quest: Costa Rica as we learn to recognize our potential autonomy, relationship with the land, and how we feel most healthy in mind, body, and spirit.

We are accepting applications for this Quest from now until September 19, 2010, but we welcome inquiries at any time. If you have any questions about Quest: Costa Rica, you can contact Sean Geygan - he'll be more than happy to help you out!

Pre- and Post-Trip Meetings

Each Quest trip requires group planning and preparation before departure. This is a great way to meet your fellow travelers and get excited about the adventure that lies ahead. There are also a couple of meetings upon your return, to help ease some of the reverse culture shock when getting back to Madison and to thank those who have supported you on your Quest. Meetings are mandatory, so please make sure that you will be available on the following dates:

  • October 2: Fundraising meeting
  • October 16: ALPs workshop at the Crossing, guest speaker, and potluck dinner
